Heather Menzie, MA, LPC
I am a therapist whose warmth and experience help set people at ease. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am trained in EMDR therapy for individuals and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. My office locations are in Boulder (Light Quest Counseling) and in Denver (Foundations Family Counseling).
I earned my graduate degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology in 2008 from Naropa University and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2012. For several years, I worked as a wilderness therapist and the Family Services Director at a Wilderness Therapy program in Colorado. Now, I have a private practice in Boulder and Denver. For families involved in treatment, I offer support for parents as they navigate having a child in a therapeutic program.
I am the Family Program Director at Breakwater Expeditions and Co-Founder of The Strong and Mindful Family Program, which offers Parent Workshops and Family Expeditions.
Through a variety of therapeutic modalities and listening for what my client’s individual and familial goals and needs are, I provide a creative and peaceful environment for healing to occur. It is my belief that individuals and families can confront, transform, and heal. My intention is to help you remove obstacles and move towards wholeness.
If you are interested in participating in Yoga Therapy, I am registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-500. I bring this rich work into my sessions when appropriate. I meet with clients who are stable, engaged in the therapeutic process, and willing to work hard.
Clients that I do not work with in private practice include people in early recovery from addiction or who are actively using, people who are suicidal, self harming, or newly out of in-patient treatment. Please know that if you are struggling in this way, you can call me, and I can offer some professional referrals to support your needs. It is important to find the best fit for you.

Reflections from a successful green River trip: From a Father's perspective
“Thank you! We will value and remember this trip. For our youngest son, this is an accomplishment he can build on. For our oldest, it is a point he can refer to as he moves into his new phase of life (college). I learned more about how my sons and I can better our relationship.” - Father of a family of four
